Apple’s iPhones are one of the most popular phones in Ghana. Beside Samsung, Tecno, Infinix, Itel, and Huawei as popular phone brands in Ghana, you will find that out of ten people, four of them are using an iPhone, which is very impressive and perfectly aligns with the dreams of Apple founder Steve Jobs. One of his many dreams was to dominate the tech industry and ensure that every person in the world uses an Apple product. But the question remains: Are Apple products truly affordable? There are copious electronic products like phones, laptops, heads, and so on, but Apple products have always stood out as being more expensive than the rest of them. In Ghana, you can find two types of iPhones on the market: new and used. Purchasing a new, unused iPhone with accessories will result in a higher price. But if you want to cut some costs, then you definitely should be opting for a fairly used iPhone.
What is the latest iPhone currently on the market?
Like any other phone brand, iPhone releases its latest phone every year, and their newest phones, which are currently the talk of town, are the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These phones come in black, blue, green, yellow, and pink colors. Let’s delve into the past. Prior to the release of this latest iPhone, the iPhone 14 held the top spot. However, this is a common occurrence in the phone industry, where no single model maintains its dominance for long. When you look at the catalogues of Apple’s iPhone, Apple released it’s first iPhone in 2007, which was sold for $399, and subsequently released the iPhone 3G in 2008, the iPhone 3GS in 2009, the iPhone 4 in 2010, the iPhone 4S in 2011, the iPhone 5 in 2012, the iPhone 5S and 5C in 2013, the iPhone 6/6 Plus in 2014, the iPhone 6S/6SPlus in 2015, iPhone SE in 2016, iPhone 7/7Plus in 2016, iPhone 8/8Plus in 2017, iPhone X in 2017, iPhone XS/XS Max in 2018, iPhone XR in 2018, iPhone 11 in 2019, iPhone SE in 2020, iPhone 12 in 2020, iPhone 13 in 2021, iPhone SE 3rd gen in 2022, iPhone 14 in 2022 and iPhone 15 in 2023. So you see, there is no end in sight, and this list is going to go on and on in the future.
Should I buy a new iPhone or a used one?
Buying a new iPhone is entirely dependent on your financial strength or budget. Brand new iPhones in a box with their accessories are more expensive than fairly used ones. Therefore, if you have the financial means, I would suggest purchasing a brand new iPhone in its original packaging. However, if you’re considering purchasing a fairly used iPhone in Ghana, here’s what you need to know: Firstly, it’s possible for the phone to have a hidden defect that may not be noticeable at the time of purchase, but may become apparent after a few weeks of use. Secondly, when you go to places like Accra, Circle, Medina, Lapaz, Kasoa, Kumasi, etc., a lot of these fairly used phones are stolen, and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to buy a stolen item. Thirdly, these newly used iPhones have a low battery life; you fully charge them, and the battery runs out quickly. Last but not least, most people do not offer you a warranty when buying a fairly used iPhone; whatever issue you face after buying it is yours to deal with.
